Handi-Seal was especially formulated for installation of new windows and doors. Its minimal expansion properties eliminate the “bowing” problem associated with many foams. This property makes it an excellent product to use on any project where the foam will not be visible (it is a gray color and has a styrofoam-like appearance). It is very easy to use. Just attach the straw to the nozzle of the can. This long straw makes Handi-Seal an excellent product for touch-ups and for reaching into small openings. The output of closed cell foam provides a superior thermal insulating barrier compared with fiberglass and caulk.

Handi-clean can be used on any of the foam products. It screws onto the gun for cleaning before long-term storage and can be used to remove fresh foam from the gun or box parts. Once the foam cures, it is difficult to remove and must be cut or scraped off.

Two-part foams mix in the nozzle connecting paired cans of foam components. The result is a spray of foam that has an R-value of 6.5 per inch. Cured foam can be trimmed, sanded and painted. It is typically used for insulating hot tubs, around pipes and ductwork, and other small residential insulating projects. Foam does not contain formaldehyde. Cures in less than one minute.

Tu Tuff Vapor Barrier

Tu-Tuff provides a barrier against air and moisture penetration. Wrap it completely around the house including ceilings, and around walls right up to the windows and doors. Foundations are wrapped around the outside perimeter from the base to ground level and the Tu-Tuff is laid under the concrete flooring making the problems of moisture penetration and dampness absolutely minimal. Because Tu Tuff is cross laminated it has 3.6 times the tensile strength and 6.4 times the puncture resistance of the standard 4 mil low density poly. It is also pinhole free, an impossibility with typical barriers. Because Tu Tuff stops moisture and wind chill, the structure is warmer, drier and easier to heat with less energy.

Reflectix is an insulation, radiant barrier, and vapor barrier combined into one product. It is 5/16" thick, made of layers of foil bonded to a tough layer of polyethylene, with two inner layers of bubblepack to resist heat flow. When installed with an air space, it provides a heat barrier equal to much thicker widths of traditional insulating material. The R-value when the direction of the heat flow is up is 8.3; down: 14.3; horizontal: 9.8. It can be used wherever you would use any other insulation product. It has the added advantages of being moisture resistant (perfect for basements and crawl spaces), it is easier to install (just use a stapler and a scissors), and it presents no health hazards for the installer or the building occupant.

Reflectix Concrete Slab Insulation

Reflectix Concrete Slab Insulation consists of seven layers. The first layer of white poly is bonded to foil to protect from lime in curing concrete. Each outer layer is bonded to a tough layer of polyethylene for strength. Two inner layers of insulating bubbles resist conductive heat flow while a center layer of polyethylene gives the product high reliability and strength. It is installed with the white side up. The combined R-value of all layers is 1.1.

This product is especially useful in radiant floor systems and snow melt systems, as the product will spread heat evenly across the concrete slab. It also acts as a vapor and radon retarder. It is non-toxic and unaffected by moisture or humidity.

Plastic Reusable Interior Storm Window Kits
Our plastic kits are applied over the interior window so that they block drafts entering through cracks around the sash as well as heat loss through the glass. The airtight seal also prevents moisture from reaching the cold window glass to form frost.

These window kits contain a roll of 4 mil clear plastic, and an adhesive-backed frame strip. They take about ten minutes to install. A scissor is the only tool that you will need.

Cut the strips to size, stick them to your window frame, and snap in the clear plastic for a tight seal against cold air, frost, and drafts. Plastic snaps out and rolls up for summer storage. UV inhibitors resist yellowing and cracking for 5 years or more. Much more economical than the one-season models that use a blow dryer to install.

Are you heating and cooling your attic? If you do not have any attic hatch insulation, you are. Your access door is usually made of a thin layer of plywood with no insulation, and no tight seal. Conditioned air from your home easily enters the attic through this uninsulated hole in your attic floor. The Battic Door Kit includes a triple-wall white coated cardboard base with four walls to serve as an enclosure for a pull-down staircase, foam tape weatherstripping, foil insulation and instructions. Flaps are secured to the outside of the open bottomed R-5 box. R-7 foil insulation is applied to the exterior of the box, then weatherstripping is applied to the existing frame of the stairway. The open bottom box sits on this weatherstripping and the stairs fold into the box.

This insulated (R-10) and weatherstripped attic hatch provides easy access without leaving a huge hole in your insulation. Because it comes as a completely trimmed unit, it is very easy to install. The plywood outer shell of the door is painted white, so no refinishing is necessary. The hinged fold-up ladder can easily be cut down for ceilings up to 104". For higher ceilings, ask about our extensions.

Energy Guardian makes an insulated kit to fit over any type of attic access opening. Each is a two piece system with a lip and a lid. While the kits can be put together by a handy home owner, there are trained installers throughout the country. The attic ladder cover PE ESSAS is a two piece system. The 7 1/2" lip allows for your ladder to fit in in its folded position above the attic floor. An R-30 insulated lid fits snuggly on top of the lip creating a thermal and infiltration barrier. The lid weighs 10 lbs, and the frame 5 lbs. It will fit any opening that is less than 35" x 63".

If you have a push up hatch with no stairs, you will need the PE HC R-30 insulated push up hatch cover. It will fit any attic opening (measured inside the attic) less than 28 1/2" x 32". This unit requires 7" of clearance above the attic floor - the total height of the lip and lid..
