This all handmade warbonnet allows you to enjoy something that looks and feels as if you had the real one in your home. Many hours are spent painting the feathers to resemble the eagle. Each feather is hand wrapped. Days of beading are spent with glass beads such as the coblat blue bead and the yellow pumpkin beads. Rosettes are beaded for the temple area and are adorned with ermine pelts. Warbonnets such as this one were only used by the most exceptional warriors. Historical Note:
The tomahawk head was a trade item better known as the weeping heart. This tomahawk would have been present during talks of war. If the talks went well, the pipe of the tomahawk would be smoked and passed as a symbol of peace, then taken out and buried - the weapon would not be used. (This is where we get the phrase Bury the hatchet).
